Silver Jewellery Care Tips

Silver Jewellery Care

  • Always defend your jewellery from pointy blows, scratching, chemicals, daylight and heat / cold. Ideally, store your silver jewellery in a sealed plastic carrier bag in a soft lined box or pouch. Try and keep pieces apart, in order that they don't rub together or tangle up.
  • Wear jewellery for appropriate jobs; avoid wearing rings or loose bracelets when cleaning, gardening or performing sports activities.
  • Do not let your jewellery come into contact with nail polish removers, scent and hairspray.
  • Clean your silver jewellery continually, employ an exclusive silver cleaning product like wadding or a special silver cleaning material ( always read the makers instructions ). Clean the silver thoroughly and avoid polishing the other beads on your jewellery, for example crystals with an AB finish, as the fabric can remove that finish.
  • While washing your hands - don't place your rings on the sink - remove them and place them onto your necklace or place in a pouch in your purse.
  • Never go for a swim in your jewellery, chlorine in swimming pools may cause damage.
  • Silver is one of the Earth's most helpful metals as well as one of the Earth's most valuable metals. Most silver jewellery is silver mixed with other metals usually sterling silver is composed of 92.5 % silver and 7.5 p.c copper. This makes it better for wearable jewellery.
  • Wearing and handling jewellery will slow the oxidization process and keep your silver glossy and new looking. Over time oxidization reactions will happen, particularly with sulfur and oxygen, causing silver to become tainted.
  • Jewellery should be put on after make-up, hair product and scents are put on.
